Pictured Left- Captain George W. McCulloch - Company E of the 89th Enrolled Missouri Miltia.

​​At the time of the 1864 battle of Plattsburg, George McCulloch was the 1st Lieutenant of his company.  He took over command of the company when Captain John Turney was killed in action. ​ ​This picture is of George W. McCulloch a few months after the 1864 battle of Plattsburg Missouri.

​​He was subsequently elected to the rank of Captain of Company E, 89th E.M.M. and served until early 1865 when the Enrolled Missouri Militia organizations were disbanded.

Welcome - To the 1864 Battle of Plattsburg web museum.  You will find a few items below that are related to the original battle of Plattsburg Missouri.  We dont have a whole lot just yet, but hope to grow this over the next few months.  We are looking for stuff to add to our little web museum as long as it is related to the original battle of Plattsburg.  If you have a picture of an ancestor who fought at Plattsburg, an original item from the battle or something of interest that is related to the battle, then please contact us.  We would be eager to add it to our collection for the preservation of history.
Pictured Above - Original sword of 1st Lieutenant George W. McCulloch of Company E of the 89th Enrolled Missouri Militia.  He carried this sword at the 1864 battle of Plattsburg.  Original handle of the sword was destroyed in a fire some time after the war and has been replaced by a reproduction handle.  Picture provided by McCulloch family and used with permission.
